FAQ

As a general rule: if you’re concerned, your pet should probably be evaluated. But if you aren’t sure, our emergency triage advisors would be happy to talk to you more about it. Just give us a call!

We accept cash, digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay), and all major credit cards.
For those needing flexible payment options, we accept Care Credit and Scratch Pay. Unfortunately, we cannot accept trades, bottle caps, or hamburgers promised for next Tuesday.

We are flattered that you want to spend any more time in an emergency clinic than you have to. But trust us, you don’t want a bunch of emergency personnel administering vaccines or managing your chronic disease. Leave that to the experts: your primary care team or veterinary specialists.
-
Most primary care veterinarians are not equipped to provide advanced care on an emergency basis. As much as they would love to work you in, the logistics of their day often makes that impossible. Plus, in order for them to be up and ready for their first appointments of the day, they have to close at a reasonable time.
That’s where we come in. Our entire workflow is set up for sick pets who need to be seen right away! And while your primary care veterinarian is sharing a well-deserved meal with their family, we will be here waiting for you (at least until 10pm).
-
As soon as you check in your veterinarian will receive a notification that your pet has come to us for evaluation. They will also receive a link so they have access to everything we do. As soon as our records are complete, everything is automatically uploaded to the portal for your veterinarian. If you need the records sent to yourself or another facility, we can do that too!
At the time of discharge, you will receive detailed discharge instructions that outline what was done, what medications are being sent home, and any relevant follow up instructions. Someone from our care team will check back with you in a few days to update you with any pending labwork results and make sure everything is going as planned.

Each patient has a dedicated care team collaborating on their case in a transparent and accessible environment. Having a dedicated care team means more input on the case and faster answers as to what might be going on. While most emergency hospitals have to keep clients in the waiting room or in closed-off exam rooms until it’s your turn to speak with the doctor. At inkwell, you can see into our treatment area and watch your pet at all times. This way you can witness the magic our team does every day.
From a medical perspective, we do not hospitalize patients overnight and do not perform major surgeries. Our highly-skilled emergency team can assess, stabilize, and treat patients with the best of them; and we work closely with local emergency and specialty centers to ensure every pet obtains the care they need. At inkwell, we have focused our efforts on providing the very best care possible in an outpatient setting.

Visiting the ER is stressful. And as much as we love our jobs, our team members don’t really want to spend all day in a place that looks like a hospital either. So we designed a clinic filled with plants, big windows, and large pieces of art. We wanted to create a place where, when it’s time for you to be discharged, a small part of you says “do we have to go?”
-
Most emergencies do not require hospitalization or overnight care. Veterinary specialty/referral centers that are open 24/7 can be swamped with patients that don’t need everything these centers have to offer. This means more work for the ER staff and longer wait times for clients. The highly-trained team at inkwell is able to move more quickly and nimbly because we can focus on doing fewer things well.

Yes. As an independent, locally-owned business we wanted to highlight other local businesses. So why not pay respects to the fantastical liquid that makes every day brighter: coffee. We have teamed up with local roasteries to provide a rotating selection of freshly brewed coffee (made with fancy coffee equipment) to make your visit just a little more enjoyable.
Don’t worry, we also have decaf, teas, and local cold beverages.

Ink can be used for anything: to draw a scenescape, to doodle in the margins, to create a Rohrshak ink blot, or even to pen the Great American Novel. But once you lay that ink to paper, it’s down for good. Ink represents possibility with permanence: a reminder that what we do matters.

It is never easy to say goodbye to a loved one. But we know that sometimes the most loving thing to do is making the hard decision to let them go. As long as our lights are on, a member of our veterinary team would be happy to help guide you through this difficult time. We have a quiet and comfortable room available for you to spend some time together and you may absolutely be present during these final moments if you choose to.
We work directly with Precious Memories Pet Cemetery and Crematory for your pet’s aftercare needs. We can also facilitate a number of remembrances and keepsakes if you wish. Please discuss this further with a member of your care team.
